Information Session on Graduate Studies in USA held at Hawassa University.

EducationUSA Advisor at the US Embassy Addis Ababa, Teklemichael Tefera and ACAO Stewart Davis held information session on studying in the US for graduate programs (masters and PhD) for Hawassa University faculty and students at HU Main Campus on October 18, 2024.

Dr. Emebet Bekele, Executive of Public and International Relations at HU, welcomed the guests where she remarked that the US embassy and universities are among the key international partners of Hawassa University over the years and expressed gratitude for the continued collaborations.

Mr. Teklemichael presented at length all the basic information the audience needed if they plan on pursuing their Masters or PhD studies in the US. In his presentation, Mr. Teklemichael highlighted on the kinds of higher education institutions in the US and the various types of scholarships available for international students. Mr. Davis also spoke on the most important elements applicants should consider preparing for to secure student visa to travel to the US from his rich experience as a former visa officer.

Participants also raised a number of questions including the international tests required for scholarships and issues related to visa after the presentation and the presenters explained on points raised by the participants.
