Office of V/P/R/C conducts a Review Workshop on HU-Journals Accreditation Plan.

Office of the V/President for Research & Collaboration at Hawassa University has conducted a review workshop on the progress of HU-Journals accreditation and re-accreditation plan.

The aim of the workshop was to assess the status of the pre-accreditation application activities which were communicated to all concerned stakeholders last August.

On the occasion, Dr. Tafesse Matewos, VPRC, stated that HU has 10 research journals of which only two are nationally accredited by MoE. He disclosed that the VPRC office has been supporting the remaining eight journals to get national accreditation and the two accredited journals to be indexed in well-known international data bases. Dr. Tafesse added that the present workshop is part of the support his office has been providing to the journals.

At the workshop, Dr. Serawit Handiso, Research & Community Engagement CEO at MoE, has presented the key issues and directions of the national research strategy, and introduced the revised requirements and parameters of evaluating research journals for national accreditation.

His presentation was followed by warm reflections and questions from the participants, and Dr. Tafesse gave directions to journal editors in Chief, Managing Editors and the host colleges/institute leaders as well as associate deans for RTT to evaluate each journal’s progress in the light of the parameters and agreed activities until January, 2025.
