Hawassa University ELIC Partners with Peace Corps Ethiopia.

English Language Improvement Center (ELIC) at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hawassa University, in collaboration with Peace Corps Ethiopia has organized a five months-long virtual training for academic staff and PhD students on scientific writing (with a theme: “Writing Your Journal Article in Twelve Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success”.

The training was delivered by a Peace Corps volunteer Prof. Eileen Willingham and facilitated by Peace Corps Ethiopia and HU-ELIC staff where 13 applicants out of the 20 registered were able to successfully complete it.

One of the successful trainees, Mr. Awol Ali from School of Governance and Development Studies at HU, stated that he gained immense insights from the training and his manuscript prepared  during the training has been published. He added that trainees were encouraged to write and develop their manuscripts throughout the course, and receiving constructive feedbacks on each section from both the trainers and peers was a wonderful opportunity for young researchers like him.

Dr Mihireteab Abraham, the Coordinator of ELIC and facilitator of the training program from HU, also mentioned that the Center is currently implementing other two projects in collaboration with the partner, Peace Corps Ethiopia.
