MOBILISE Project organizes Experience Sharing Business Linkage Workshop.

MOBILISE Project, a collaboration between College of Agriculture at Hawassa University and Maastricht University school of management in Netherlands, has organized an experience sharing and business linkage workshop at Rori hotel on October 11, 2024.

Dr. Tarekegne Yosef, Dean of the CoA, stated in his opening speech that MOBILISE aims to establish sustainable frameworks for continued exchange of skills and knowledge between countries to ensure and contribute to advancing  sustainable agriculture, particularly in Europe, while fostering a global exchange of expertise that impact communities and industries.

The project coordinator at HU, Mr. Abera Alemu, mentioned that 20 undergraduate students have already benefited from the project comprehensive offering which includes a three month pre-departure preparatory training followed by three month internships during the 2023/24 academic year. He added that 14 of these students were qualified and allowed to gain practical skills in one of the worlds most advanced agriculture sectors with leading horticultural companies in the Netherlands for three months.

During the workshop, Dr. Huub Mudde, Senior project consultant and MOBILISE project Director at Maastricht university, remarked that the project is vital in equipping students with essential skills through immersive internship opportunities, both locally and internationally, particularly in the Netherlands.

Beneficiary students have also said that the opportunity has opened doors for them to gain international exposure, practical skills and industry experience that will greatly shape their future career paths. They presented their business ideas along with their experiences.

Finally Dr. Huub has presented challenges and opportunities linking with business and options for students and companies followed by  question, answer and reflections from students and participants companies.
