The Hawassa University Governance & Development Studies Students Association (HUGaDSSA) hosted a vibrant Cultural Exchange and Christmas Celebration with international students at the Africa Union Hall.
The event brought together Ethiopian and international students for an enriching cultural experience.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Sileshi Negash, Team Leader of International Relations at HU, emphasized the importance of bridging cultural, political, and ideological divides in modern international relations. He highlighted the role of cultural exchanges in fostering trust, reducing misunderstandings, and building partnerships to address shared global challenges. Mr. Sileshi also praised the event as an excellent opportunity for students' knowledge sharing and cultural appreciation.
Feven Mekonnen, President of HUGaDSSA, on her par, expressed her heartfelt thanks to the university’s Public & International Relations office and her club members for their dedication in making the event possible. She emphasized the value of such gatherings in strengthening bonds between students from diverse backgrounds.
International students from South Sudan and Germany shared their gratitude, describing the program as a warm and welcoming experience that made them feel at home. They praised the university and the student association for their hospitality and efforts in organizing the celebration.
The event showcased vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances and modeling shows, celebrating the rich diversity and creativity of the participants.
