RAF Donates a State-of-the-art Neuro-endoscopy Machine to HUCSRH.
Reach Another Foundation (RAF) has donated a State-of-the-art Neuro-endoscopy Machine worth 8.5 million ETB to the Neurosurgical Unit of Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Referral Hospital which is believed to empower the unit to provide better service with endoscopic surgery.
Neuro-endoscopy is an integral part of modern neurosurgery, and endoscopic surgery, with the appropriate indications, is the preferred treatment for patients with hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is an accumulation of abnormally high amount of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain which is one of the most common neurosurgical conditions treated at the HUCSR hospital. This service was being delivered in our hospital for the last 2 years despite the existing limitations. With the donation of the state-of-the-art Neuro-endoscopy machine (with both flexible and rigid endoscopes) from RAF, the Neurosurgical Unit is better equipped to advance the surgical service and training at HU.
The Neurosurgical Unit of Hawassa University CSR Hospital serves an estimated 20 million people in its catchment area, including the Sidama region, adjacent regions in the southern part of Ethiopia and beyond. We would like to express our gratitude to RAF for the sustained support and continued effort in developing a Neurosurgical center of Excellence at Hawassa University.
