The 1988 HU Alumni Celebrate 36th Anniversary

The 1988 (1980 EC) graduates of Awassa Junior College of Agriculture(AJCA), now College of Agriculture in Hawassa University, celebrated their 36th anniversary of graduation on July 13, 2024, at the Red Cross Training Center, Addis Ababa.

During the event, 44 graduates from different departments under the college and currently living across different parts of the country attended the reunion. At the commencement of their reunion, the alumni observed a moment of silence to honor the lost loved ones, including their former classmates, academics, and staffs of the college, as a way of expressing their gratitude for the staff's efforts and dedication in shaping them into who they are today.

In the full-day celebration, various activities were carried out including a face-to-face welcome introduction of the graduates, scientific/professional presentations, discussion on how to go forward and strengthening this network into a more productive and sustained institution. They have plans to establish institutions such as investment group, self-help, cooperative, and association groups. Moreover, they discussed a plan to hold a similar gathering in the next few years at the College of Agriculture, Hawassa University. The event was graced by the presence of two esteemed staff members, Dr. Asefach Hailu and Dr. Awdenegest Moges.
