A Team of higher officials from four Chinese High-tech Companies visit HU
Top officials from four high-tech companies in China: Anhui Publishing Group, Time Publishing and Media Co., Ltd, Anhui Antai Technology Co., Ltd and Anhui Xinhua Printing Co., Ltd, visited Hawassa university to discuss potential partnership on December 13, 2023.
Dr. Ayano Beraso, President of HU, received the guests accompanied by V/President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ing. Fisiha Getachew and V/President for Research and Technology Transfer Dr. Tafesse Matewos at the SEC meeting Hall. The President discussed the fast growth of Hawassa University over the past two decades, especially its transition towards being an autonomous research university. He added that HU has several international partnerships and a great experience to work towards mutual goals with those partners.
Dr. Emebet Bekele, Director General of OERC at HU, presneted an overview of HU's profile to the visitors as in introduction including the previous partnerships with China such as the Confucius Class at HU and HU's membership of the recently founded Ethio-Chinese Education Network.
The guests expressed their excitement about visiting Hawassa university, one of the well established universities in Ethiopia. These ICT companies pointed out that they are well known for working on different high-tech company projects in China market. They also mentioned that they've been working in Ethiopia since 2016 and want to further their partnership with universities.
The higher officials have invited HU's President to visit their accomplishments in China as they are interested in the creation of smart campuses as they have many success stories back home. They promised to provide best quality services to extend their experience towards the development of Ethiopian universities in technology and smart campuses.
The vice Presidents also remarked that working on high-tech imputs like smart classrooms is in line with the university strategic plan, and it will be a good ideas to consider the companies for future collaboration.
