Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Edinburgh, Visits Hawassa University.

Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Edinburgh, Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has visited tertiary eye care services and opthalmology training activities of the Department of Opthalmology and Optometry at College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Hawassa university, on October 10, 2023.

This visit was made in view of the longstanding partnership established between CMHS (HU) and Orbis International Ethiopia.

As the patron of some 70 charities and organizations who has especially focused on aiding those with disabilities, the Duchess of Edinburgh, made this high level visit, accompanied by His Excellency Darren Welch, current British Ambassador to Ethiopia, Dr. Doris Macharia, Senior Vise President of Orbis Global programs, Board members of Orbis International, Dr. Alemayehu Sisay, country director of Orbis International Ethiopia and other dignitaries.

Her Royal Highness has physically visited the tertiary eye care service facilities established with the support of Orbis International Ethiopia, met patients who have been treated at the center, and the facilities for teaching and research for students of the department.
