A total of 1050 universities from 85 countries across the globe have participated in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2022 where they have successfully demonstrated improvement in their university strategic measures to achieve SDGs in all aspects of their university activities. This competition focuses on some strategic moves that have been made to create the most sustainable world campuses.

Hawassa university has ranked 1st from Ethiopia for the most sustainable green campuses and 520th out of the 1050 universities worldwide. We are very pleased and grateful for all our university leaders and community for their contributions to keep our campuses as green, peaceful, safe and healthy as possible for students and staff.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of you for this result which inspires us all to put more efforts for better world ranking and sustainability of our campuses for the future.
