Hawassa University Organizes Technology and Business Validation Workshop.
The Hawassa University Technology Transfer and University-Industry Linkage Directorate, in collaboration with UNICO (from the Czech Republic), organized a Technology and Business Validation workshop at the HU main campus.
During his welcoming speech, Dr. Bayou Bunkura, Director of Technology Transfer and University-Industry Linkage, stated that Hawassa University is one of Ethiopia's research universities that engage in research, technological innovation, and community services that address the challenges of industries and communities in addition to teaching-learning activities. He gave a brief overview of Hawassa University and informed the participants about the various international engagements and collaborative projects that have been undertaken since the university's inception. The workshop on technology and business validation, he continued, is about sharing the global experience of tech-business startups and also about exchanging insights on how to transfer technologies and business ideas efficiently. He concluded by claiming that failure risk can be minimized or totally eliminated by using the appropriate metrics and knowledge when doing technology validation.
In turn, the UNICO team discussed the role of business and technology validation in technology transfer, various types and forms of validation, and working with validation results during the commercialization process. Finally, the team members shared their experiences with Hawassa University staff on innovation ecosystem support for technology transfer in the Czech Republic.
