Hawassa University, Info Mind Solutions, in collaboration, Organize Annual Career Expo.

Dr. Eng. Fisseha Getachew, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Hawassa University, expressed its importance as a two-way process to secure employment for graduating students. On the one hand, students need to make themselves attractive to the employers, and employers, on the other hand, put in a lot of effort to ensure that they find best graduates.

He added that higher education institutions, including Hawassa University, want to work closely with the industry to close the skill gap. It promotes job-skill alignment by combining labor market data with industry input to define the skills likely to be needed for tomorrow’s job. Furthermore, it builds a workforce that drives a thriving economy that we need for closed cooperation between general education, universities, and employers to ensure seamless transitions at all levels.

Dr. Fisseha stated that bringing new graduates to a career fair at the university gives them a glimpse of what occurs in the world of work. The interaction at this career fair will yield positive results equally for both employers and students. Therefore, we all expect that new students will be advantageous of this opportunity by learning more about career paths and options available in the labor market.

During the career expo, various organizations attended to promote their organizations' job opportunities and workforce needs. It was also a time that the students could obtain important information about employers. Using these pieces of information, they can create effective links with the organizations in the future.
