College of Business and Economics Conducts External Curriculum Review Workshop.
Hawassa University College of Business and Economics organized the external curriculum review workshop on two Ph.D. programs (Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance and Ph.D. in Development Economics) and one Masters's program (MBA in Finance and Taxation) on April 7, 2022.
Dr. Wegene Markos, Dean, College of Business and Economics, explained that experts conducted need assessment for the newly proposed programs and the intention is to satisfy the demand of the community, fulfill the gap and solve the shortage of skilled manpower in the area, and contribute to the development of the sector in the country.
Dr. Eng. Fisseha Getachew, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said that since Hawassa University is differentiated as a research university, it is necessary to add postgraduate programs and broaden research areas to contribute much to economic development.
Prof. Raman Kumar, Dr. Seyoum Yunkura, and Dr. Tamirat Ludego presented the proposed curricula and then, the invited external reviewers raised helpful questions and forwarded comments accordingly.
Finally, discussions and reactions were made on the issue where the academic staff of the college, invited individuals, and post-graduate students participated in the workshop at African Union Hall.
