Hawassa University hosts Collaborative projects’ review forum.

Collaborative Projects’ Coordination Directorate of Hawassa University organizes a review forum for collaborative projects at Wondogenet college of Forestry and Natural Resource on February10, 2022.

Dr. Ayano Berasso, Hawassa University’s president, said in his opening speech that the university has established a long-standing collaboration with different national and international partners so as to work closely to achieve shared goals. He pointed out that Hawassa university is currently hosting 63 collaborative projects of which 53 are international and 10 are local projects where a total of 101 global and 91 local partners are involved.

Dr. Ayano expressed that it is highly important to set forums like this one for all stakeholders so as to share experience, get feedback and strengthen further collaborations, and the forum helps the university to assess the extent to which the collaborative projects are working in line with its mission and goals. He acknowledges the contributions of these projects and extends his appreciation to the coordinators, donors and all participants.

Multiple collaborative projects on research, capacity building and community services presented their progress reports at the forum before all of the university’s top management and researchers. Fruitful discussion on the success stories, challenges and opportunities regarding collaborative projects’ inception, development and implementation was made by the participants following the presentations of the projects’ reports.

Dr. Mebratu Mulatu, the Director for Collaborative Projects’ Coordination Directorate, made clarifications on opportunities the university has created for the academic staff to develop grant-winning project proposals and the incentive schemes available for those who succeed in their efforts.

Dr. Tafesse Mateos, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, also remarked on the ways forward where all stakeholders should work with improved commitment to reach the university’s goals in the areas of collaboration with local and international partners.

Finally, the president addressed all questions and remarks from participants with appreciation for their efforts and closed the forum with call for more to be done in the area of collaboration and partnership.
