College of Medicine and Health sciences Hosts Model Woredas Graduation on Information Revolution.
Hawassa University College of Medicine and Health Sciences Research and community Services Directorate in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health, Southern and Sidaama Regional Health Bureaus, Capacity Building Mentorship Program (CBMP), and Data Use Partnership (DUP) project organized Model Woredas Graduation on Information Revolution on 27th 2021 at Rori hotel, Hawassa.
Dr. Ayano Berasso Hawassa University president in his opening speech said that Federal MOH and our universities partnership program carried out different activities to implement one of the national health agendas i.e, Information Revolution to enhance data culture and digitalization to improve data used for decision making at all levels since December 2018.
Mr. Alemu Tamisso (Assisst. Prof), a Director for Research and Community Services Directorate director and a PI, mentioned that the overall objective of the project was to support federal MoH and regional health bureaus initiatives by creating a model of health facilities and model Woredas through improvements in health information system infrastructure, data quality and information use for evidence-based decision making at all level of the health system in creating capacity building elements and digital tools. He also added that all health institutions (2 woredas, 10 health centers, and 1 hospital) are verified and labeled as a model after implementing different intervention approaches.
Dr. Ruth Negatu, Ministry of Health Minister Delegate, said that I thank Hawassa University’s commitment and success on behalf of the Ministry and suggest that the university and federal MOH should work on the sustainability and scale-up of the observed changes to other health centers.
