IOT Organizes the 6th National Research Conference on AFET.

Institute of Technology, Hawassa University, has organized the 6th National Research Conference Under the theme "Aspiring the Future in Engineering and Technology" (AFET) where a total of 20 research papers from 9 universities have been presented at AU Hall, Main Campus.

Dr. Samuel Jilo, V/President for Administration & Development of HU, officially opened the event where he underlined the unlimited and evergrowing role of engineering and technology in people's livelihoods in the 21st century. He said that HU's transition to an autonomous research university dectates the advancement of engineering and technology as one of its top priority areas.

During his welcome speech, Dr. Ing. Fasika Bete, Scientific Director of IOT, acknowledged the hardwork and unreserved commitment of the organizing committee who had to screen 20 qualifying papers out of a total of 110 research papers submitted for the conference. He said that the platform is aimed at creating a chance for professional networking, knowledge sharing, scientific discussion thereby furthering the role of engineering and technology for building a better future in our country.

Prof. Tenalem Ayenew, a distinguished hydrogeologist from the School of Earth Sciences at Addis Ababa University delivered a keynote speech entitled: "Unearthing the Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia: Unveiling Groundwater Development Challenges and Charting a Path to Solution".

The conference was conducted in five parallel sessions classified in different streams.
