IoT Organizes the 4th Deep Learning Indabax Ethiopia Conference 2024.

Institute of Technology, in collaboration with Office of V/President for RTT at HU and Deep Learning Indaba, hosted the 4th deep learning indabax Ethiopia conference with the theme "Strengthening awareness and application of Machine learning and artificial intelligence for sustainable development in Ethiopia" at AU Hall, Main Campus.

Dr. Samuel Jilo, V/president for Administration and Development at HU, officially opened the conference where he underscored the necessity of adopting and applying the latest technology in the university as the world is moving and changing fast from time to time and so is HU transitioning to an autonomous research university.

Dr. Eng. Fasika Bete, Scientific Director of IoT, explained the main objective of  the conference as it is meant to enhance the level of awareness and application of AI, Machine Learning and deep learning for the academic communities of the university. He pinpointed the rapidly increasing adoption and use of AI around the world and its transformative roles in the cultural, economic and political lives of Africans. Dr. Fasika also mentioned the importance of developing vibrant ecosystems of policy makers, universities, large companies, startups, and multi-stakeholders partnerships for the adoption of AI in Africa.

Keynote speakers at the conference were Dr. Seble Hailu, Director for computing and analytics center at Information Network Security Agency (INSA), and Mr.Tesfaye Zewdie, Director for Communication Affairs at Ethiopian AI Institute (EAII) who spoke on the role of AI for security and introduction about AI, respectively. A total of five papers from different institutions were presented for discussion and feedbacks.
