Dear our audiences, students, and staff, it gives me a great pleasure to welcome you all to the website of Bensa Daye Campus, Hawassa University. The campus has begun its teaching learning activities since November 2018 with 314 regular 2nd year students assigned to it by the University. Since then, Bensa Daye Campus has been delivering its part on teaching-learning, research and community services.

The campus has eight regular bachelor degree programs which include Agro-economics, Agri Business and Value Chain Management and Plant Science from the field of Agriculture; Biology, Physics and Mathematics from the fields of Natural and Computational Sciences; English Language and Literature from the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities; and Computer Science from the field of Technology/Engineering/. At present the campus has a total of 1916 students which include those attending both regular and week end classes and the campus graduated its first batch of 175 regular students on 18th of September, 2021.

Bensa Daye area is one of the speciality coffee growing areas of the country and the campus is foreseeing to strengthen its research and technology transferring capabilities so as to support the community in the area through its engagement and deliver competent and skilled graduates to our country. In addition, Bensa Daye area is known for its geological wealth that needs to be understood more and exploited for the benefit of the local communities and our country at large. In line with this, the campus is planning to expand its programs in the areas of Geology and Mining so as to produce skilled and competent graduates having deep practical knowledge and skills in their fields. Moreover, based on the demands and needs from work market, the campus also would like to expand its undergraduate programs in the areas of Agriculture, Business and Economics, Health Sciences, Technology and Natural and Computational Sciences. Furthermore, the campus is also planning to step by step commence graduate programs in the areas of Agriculture, Natural and Computational Science and Social Sciences among others to strengthen our University’s Differentiation direction and plans.

The vision of Bensa Daye Campus emanates from that of our University, to be one of the Best Universities in Africa. In addition, Bensa Daye Campus aspires to become Bensa Daye University in the very near future. As one of the newly established campuses in our university, Bensa Daye campus have lots of aspirations an inspirations and would like to call our existing and prospective students to join us with enthusiasm in your fields of interest.
