Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the U.S.Embassy in Ethiopia, Andrienne B.Nutzman, paid visit to Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Referral Hospital with the university's leadership to see the outputs of collaborations with American universities with the college over the years.
She explored the newly established and furnished operation theatres at the hospital with the financial, material and technical supports from international Partners in the United States of America and Germany, especially focusing on strengthening the departments of pediatric surgery and trauma treatment.

The visit also included the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the newly established oxygen plant at the hospital with huge potentials to empower the hospital and enhance service quality and efficiency.
Hawassa University's President, Dr. Chirotaw Ayele, and the Vice Presidents accompanied Ms. Nutzman on the tour and the hospital's Director Dr. Zerihun Girma and colleagues explained what has been improving because of all the supports from international partners to the college.
Professor Girma Tefera of Wisconsin University, Coordinator of the longstanding and impactful collaboration between American College of Surgeons and HU"s College of Medicine and Health Sciences also spoke with Ms Nutzman on the positive impacts of the partnership and ways of strengthening the already established relationship.
At the conclusion of the tour, Dr. Chirotaw Ayele expressed a heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the people and government of USA for their unwavering support extended to Hawassa university, and Prof. Girma and his colleagues for putting their hearts out to empower the hospital and enhance service quality for millions of Ethiopian patients in need of advanced medical treatments.
Ms. Nutzman also expressed how impressive it was to see all the establishments at the hospital and promised to strengthen the partnerships further in the future.
