Hawassa University, Mekelle University and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa organized training of trainers (TOT) on developing research communication strategy and writing policy briefs for senior researchers from Hawassa and Mekelle Universities with financial support from the government of Norway through ICP V projec, April 20–22, 2026.
The workshop was aimed at empowering research into action by enabling researchers develop communication strategies to influence policy makers and end users of their research outputs and innovations.
According to Dr. Andargachew Gedebo, Coordinator of ICP V project at HU, the three-days' practical workshop was specially focused on bridging research, policy and practice in food systems. Building on a prior dialogue workshop held at Mekelle University in December 2025, this initiative aims to produce impactful policy briefs that inform policy makers.

Professor Joanna Boddens Hosang, Senior Advisor of international research collaboration at NMBU, offered the training that brought together both veteran and young researchers from Hawassa and Mekelle universities.
Dr. Tafesse Matewos, Vice President for Research and Collaboration at Hawassa University, sincerely thanked the people and government of Norway for the longstanding and impactful collaboration over the years and the scholars working on the ICP V project from Norwegian University of Life Science (NMBU), Hawassa University (HU), and Mekelle University (MU) for their years of dedication to research and innovations. He also heartily appreciated Professor Joanna Boddens Hosang and Professor Sam Adaramola, ICPV Coordinator at NMBU, for sharing their rich knowledge and experience with the Ethiopian scholars traveling all the way here from Norway.
