Hawassa University IRAAD Director discusses further partnerships with the U.S HBCU Universities through IVLP Program.

International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is a premier professional exchange program provided by the Exchange Programs - U.S. Department of State where professionals meet for knowledge exchange in U.S.A. 

Mr. Yohanan Yokamo, who is International Relations and Alumni Affairs Directorate Director is involved in the experience sharing visit in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) for the last three weeks in U.S.A since October 14 - November 4, 2023.

Particularly, Mr. Yohanan has been involved in the theme "Developing University Partnerships: Connecting African Universities with HBCUs," as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), to foster meaningful dialogues and connections with higher education institutions to strategic step towards fostering university partnerships and connecting with African institutions in U.S. Accordingly, Mr. Yohanan has been connected with the Historically Black Colleges and Universities to build partnerships on research, curriculum development, commercialization of knowledge products, internationalization of knowledge and human capital development initiatives. He has managed to have meetings with the American institutions. Further, Mr. Yohanan had discussions about building partnerships between African universities and HBCU in the U.S. primarily on knowledge sharing, research, student and faculty exchanges. 

Finally, such IVLP visit exemplified the power of international collaboration in shaping the future of education and further creates opportunity to make discussion on areas of collaborations including faculty and student’s exchange and thanks giving message forwarded to U.S. Department of State to arrange International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to the HU mentioned official.
