The Second National Symposium on Neglected Tropical Diseases Held at HU


The Second annual Neglected Tropical Diseases research conference and review meeting held at Hawassa University with a major theme of “ Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Implementation in Ethiopia through an Equity lens” from july12-13/2018.

Ato Ayano Beraso HU president said that as Hawassa University is by far one of a comprehensive senior University which has a strong research and community service traditions, a number of promising technologies and services have been shared with the target communities and stakeholders nationally and at the region.

He added that to assist national efforts of combating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) , Hawassa University has been conducting operational research on locally available NTDs like WASH versus Trachoma, soil transmitted Helminthes and have also started Tungiasis elimination program in certain districts.

Dr. Abel Gedefawe Dean, College of Medicine and Health Science , Hawassa University controlling and eliminating NTDs requires a coordinated effort by all stakeholders and a consorted multidisciplinary research, development and implementation. I strongly believe that such research dissemination and communication platforms are of utmost importance for students, academia and researchers.

Finally on those two days different researchers presents their researches and fruitful discussions are made by the participants.
