Hawassa University to supports new technology innovations

Hawassa University announces its commitment to support new technology innovations. This was known on paper recycling innovation event organized by HU and GIZ held in Hawassa.

On the event, Dr. Tesfaye Abebe Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer ,Hawassa University told that the university is working vastly on different technology innovations that play vital role in solving the deep rotted problems of the society. According to Dr. Tesfaye, the University is engaged in different technology innovation projects and offer technical and financial support for new innovators within and outside the university.

Mr. Philip, GIZ representative in his part said GiZ is working in partnership with Hawassa University on multiple research, business, and technology areas. One of the areas in the joint project is paper recycling project which is run by the university with GiZ fund. According to Mr. Philip the paper recycling project was opened for competition so as to encourage new innovators and three innovation groups were recruited as finalist of the competition. Each of the three finalists presented their project proposal and after series deliberation and technical judges declared their decision. Hence a team called BEGIZE won the competition.

Hawassa University and GiZ representatives gave their words to support the winners in different ways.

 Participants from big companies from Hawassa Industrial park also promised to work with the team and be their customers when the team starts production.
