National Research Conference on Technology

 The first national conference on Engineering and Technology held at Hawassa University Technology Institute from June 27-28/2018 with the theme of “Aspiring the future.

Scientific Director at Hawassa University Technology Institute, Dr. Nigatu Wondirad, opening r his opening remark said that, “The conference is aimed to create a forum for educators, researchers, practitioners and development agents to share their experience and knowledge on modern technologies”.


Coordinator of the conference Dr. Tesfaye Bayu said on his part about 18 research papers on environment, information technology, construction, manufacturing and climate change were presented on the conference and they are specially related to current development demands of our country. More than 60 participants from 11 Public Universities of the county attended the conference.

Hawassa University Held Graduation Ceremony for 2010/2018

HU graduation ceremony was held on three different dates, June 27, 30 and July 1/2018 .

H.E Dr. Gemedu Dale, Minister of FDRE Ministry Of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. Million Mathiwos Deputy Minister of FDRE Ministry of Transport and Chair of board of the HU, H.E. Dr. Bekele Bulado, Director at FDRE, Metal Engineering and Technology Corporation and, delegates from various institutions as well as other stack holders and families of graduates were found on the ceremony. The total number of graduates is 8600 from Under Graduate, Post graduate and PhD programs.

On the event Mr.Ayano Baraso, president of Hawassa University, congratulated the graduates and recognized the effort of HU community and family of graduates for the achievement of students.

Guest of Honor for the event at Awada campus H.E. Dr. Bekele Bulado said that, the government gave due attention for the education sector besides expansion of facilities to the grass root level in ensuring education quality which he believe these graduates will prove as they are deployed in the various areas where their helping hands are badly needed by those who sponsored their studies through tax payment plus many other ways.

Mr. Million Mathiwos also appreciated the University community for the hard work in getting these young people here and what the nation is expecting in various aspects is much higher than what has been provided and thus a lot more is expected from each citizens to ensure brighter tomorrow. He finally gave a remark that becoming a graduate is just step one and the graduates should make sure they advance their capacity in both long and short term trainings and serve the community with ever improving capacity.

The graduates received their diplomas and medals in different categories from the guests of honors on the event and declared that they would sincerely serve the community to the best of their ability.                               By: Dawit Bedasa
