What is special about this project is that it caters for short-term training opportunities for about 250 local leaders at different levels.  A tuition waiver scholarship scheme is also expected to benefit about 60 local officials. At last, the project also establishes a Center for Policy and Development Research at HwU.

Of the two grand projects to be hosted by HwU’s college of Agriculture one is on Climate Smart Agriculture and the other is in the area of Biotechnology and Tissue culture. The two projects are also comprehensive endeavors having staff capacity building (both at PhD and Masters Level), collaborative research and training undertakings as their priority. Both of the projects are expected to contribute to the government objectives in achieving a Food-secured nation and, consequently, serve the wider community.

The successful execution of these five year projects could foster HwU’s stride towards achieving its vision.
