Hawassa University Held Public Forum on New Education and Training Road Map

The forum held on October, 22/2018 at HU main campus African Union hall was aimed at collecting inputon the proposed new education and training road map. It was further aimed to enhance community participation on education.


Mr. AyanoBaraso, president of the university said that the national move to prepare new education and training road map for the coming 15 yearsstarting from primary up to higher education in which necessary Ethiopian values would be included will play a hug role to achieve the sustainable development goals.


Academic affairs vice president at HU, Dr. FisihaGetachewalso underlined that the new educational road map needs huge effort and demands commitment; hence he called for the active participation of the community.
Finally, Participants also gave very constructive comments for the road map and promised to support HU in relation to maintain peaceful teaching and learning process.

Hawassa University Integrated Seed Sector Development in Ethiopia held Workshop

HU, ISSD in Ethiopia held workshop on the theme of “Strengthening linkages between seed supply and demand” on October232028.

Mr. Mesfin Behailu, ISSD manager in his introductory speech said that the workshop offers ISSD and partners the opportunity to collectively identify the best ways to improve demand supply linkages, sharing of experiences and lessons learned over the last years of collaborative efforts which enables the identification of activities to continue in 2019 and reflection on experiences will confirm the needed roles that ISSD, partners and all stakeholders need to play.

 According to Mr. Amahyesus W/Michael the ISSD activities on linking seed supply and demand is to inject variety, select best performing and farmer preferred varieties in 9 Wordas to 3600 men and women farmers participated directly, 22 varieties of 7 crop types are selected and injected in the production system.

Finally, stakeholders in government, civil society, cooperative unions, agricultural commercialization clusters, farm service centers, seed producers, traders and agro-processing industries participated and made discussions on the issue at the workshop.
